We have three primary goals for our campers: We keep them safe; they improve as players; they have fun and make friends. Every element of our camp is desgined with these objectives in mind. We want every camper to have a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience, and truth be told, we want them to be just a little bit sad when camp ends.
I believe that the hiring of great coaches is my most important role in setting up our summer camps. I look for experienced coaches who are knowledgable and energetic and who enjoy getting to know the campers. Camp should be challenging and fun and campers should feel that their coaches genuinely cared about their development. Coaches set the tone for each day, so I am careful to hire a staff that brings our camp to life for every session.
Appropriate training is a critical element to the Georgia Soccer Camp philosophy. Every player wants to succeed, and we want everyone we work with to be successful. All field sessions should be challenging and soccer training goals must be attainable. We have given careful consideration to program curriculum to assure that what is taught is age and ability appropriate. This is where our staff excel in training techniques. Our instructors are able to modify each element of training to make it challenging yet attainable to all ages and abilities.
Exposure to high level soccer coaching and demonstration is essential to soccer skill development. Soccer players must be constantly exposed to high quality play, instruction and demonstration. We are proud of our staff’s ability to demonstrate and instruct in a clear, concise manner to all ages, genders, and ability levels. The ability to play the game is not enough to make our staff...you must also be able to teach the game at a high level and be passionate about player development.
The more touches on the ball a player is given, the quicker that player will develop. We believe in teaching players one touch at a time. Repetition with positive reinforcement and positive guidance will rapidly set players on their way to achieving their soccer goals. As the adage goas, "Perfect practice makes perfect".
The game is an important element in our program. We consider the game to be the best teacher. The use of small-sided soccer produces game-like situations and increases touches on the ball. Small-sided soccer develops individual skill and helps players to understand the more intricate aspects of team play. For players of all ages and abilities, the excitement of competing in small-sided soccer is forever a favorite.
Keeping it fun is the essence of our teaching methodology. I want the enthusiasm of our coaches to set a positive and exciting tone that will carry over to the players. No matter what the age or ability level of a player, fun and excitement combined with quality coaching produces optimal results. We want all of our campers to thoroughly enjoy themselves in a safe environment while they receive the highest level of soccer coaching available. We want to share our passion and knowledge of the game to our campers. We want our campers to love their time at Georgia and to leave knowing they’ve improved as players.
I hope to see you at Georgia Soccer Camps this summer!
Sincerely,
Steve Holeman
